Quick top 4 tips on getting a new job

Top 4 Tips on getting a new job after maternity leave

  1. Focus
    • Write down what is important to you and what you want from work. Really understand what your strengths are. Be focused in your job searching. If you’re not specific about what kind of job you’re looking for you’re setting yourself up for unnecessary rejection.
  2. Networking
    • If you’re seeing the same people day in and day out you really need to widen your circle. This will open you up to new opportunities and people working in new industries. Never compare yourself but start to learn from what other parents are doing.
  3. Social media
    • Get on Linkedin and twitter. Twitter is great to connect with people on a more informal basis but remember to be careful about what you are tweeting. Potential employers can easily check up on you! Do make sure you create a professional social media profile on Linkedin and reconnect with previous colleagues and employers.
  4. Don’t be frightened of someone saying no
    • Get rid of that negative thing in your head saying you can’t do it – YOU CAN DO IT – YOU CAN GET A JOB! Focus on your dreams and what your truly want.
Always ask for help and information – you’ll be surprised that people are willing to help!

Leave you’re children – they will be fine!

To this day I still do feel guilty about leaving my son to go to work! The truth of the matter is you need to leave your children to go back to work. They will benefit hugely from going to nursery or a child minder and you will benefit from having a break from them!
