Inspirational Quote: Happiness is not the result of success, success is the result of happiness
Why did you start your business?
I was made redundant in July 2013 while on maternity leave and was desperate for money with a new mouth to feed! My first client approached me as they wanted to set up an Estate Agent and needed my help with all the back office administration and set up, and as my career was in Estate Agency I took on the challenge and things grew from there!
What’s been your biggest challenge with working and raising a family and how did you overcome it?
Early mornings (being woken up by the little one) and late nights (working till all hours) are the biggest challenge so I am usually constantly tired! Also balancing work and family/social time is a constant battle!
What’s your favourite business tool?
Any social media platform (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) is paramount to my business for gaining new clients and communicating what my business does.
I have just received the Elite Blog Academy Blog Planner a few weeks ago and as I love writing and blogging this is extremely useful to plan my time and blog posts.
Is there something you’ve learnt as a Mum that you’ve implemented into your business?
How to deal with difficult clients and communicate in difficult situations – usually negotiating with a 2 year old is way more difficult than a client!
What’s your ultimate goal?
To keep my lovely existing clients happy, and gain lots of new ones, and to open my own office and employ at least 2 staff members (hopefully in around 5 years’ time)
List 3 steps you will take to get there
- Launching new services and always developing myself and my business
- Invest in advertising and marketing
- Continue to network and learn from other successful business people!
What does success mean to you?
Being my own boss, and being content knowing that I am providing quality and value for money services to all my lovely clients.
Overall, being a strong role model to my daughter Ella, so hopefully one day she will be able to fulfill her aspirations and dreams (and maybe even take over the business one day!)
Well done to Serena on being featured as ‘Mum of the Month’ I love her determination to succeed in her business but also to help and inspire others.
Keep going and let’s all support each other. What’s the point of one of us being successful when we can all be successful together?
