I’m thinking about going to have a child in Finland after finding out what the government give all new mothers! Yep I’m willing to move to Finland to get a cardboard box….
I will never ever forget the day I gave birth (well all of us won’t!) It was 5am on one Monday morning, 4 weeks before my due date and I had ‘the show’. On the way to the hospital it dawned on me, OH MY GOODNESS WE HAVE NOTHING BROUGHT FOR THE BABY! When I say nothing, I mean nothing. I didn’t even have nappies or a car seat to take my son home in!
For 75 years Finland have been giving new Mums a box with everything you need for a newborn baby; sleepsuits, mittens, bra pads, snowsuit, toothbrush, bath towel, picture book and lots more. The amazing thing is the cardboard box all these goodies come in, doubles up as a crib! They even provide you with the mattress & bedding – just wow!
So now you know why after me being very unprepared I am very excited by this. Its such a lovely thing to get and I think it would be great to have this in the UK. The idea that every child gets the same things when they start out in life is just lovely. It makes me so happy even thinking about it!
