#18 From 0 – 30,000 customers a month! How to attract customers
So you’ve got a few customers (well done!) but you’re struggling to get more. You’ve finally mastered twitter, started networking, got your business in the press, you’ve tried everything! So how on earth do you get more customers!?
Lucy Quick, Mum of 2 and CEO of Perform (a national singing & drama school for children) is here to tell us how to attract customers to our business. With a lot hard work, Lucy now has more than 30,000 customers a month coming to her classes across the UK. Incredible.

HOW TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS
1) START AS YOU MEAN TO GO ON
Be as professional as you can from the beginning (don’t confuse this with making everything look perfect!) Get a quality logo, website, what’s your USP?
2) WORD OF MOUTH
The most powerful (and free!) way to attract new customers to your business. Treat your existing customers exceptionally well and they will promote your product & service for you.
3) DO STUFF FOR FREE
Lucy went into schools and taught drama classes for free. At the end of the lesson, she gave the children leaflets about her business to take home. This strategy rapidly increased the numbers of children coming to her own drama school. Great marketing technique!
4) OFFER A TRAIL
Another valuable way to attract customers is to offer a free trail or heavy discount of your product or service.
5) BUILD RELATIONSHIPS
Lucy has built great relationships with schools (AND the children) through her free drama classes. Now some of the schools now pay her company to do other projects. Grow your business organically.
6) LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS & BE OPEN MINDED!
By listening to your existing customers and taking action – this will lead to attracting new customers. Confused? Here’s a quick example – A Mum asked Lucy to do a birthday party for her child. Lucy had never done a birthday party before – her company did drama classes! Instead of refusing – she listened to her customer and now Lucy’s business has another profitable stream of income from doing Birthday parties!
7) ASK YOUR CUSTOMERS
Find out what other products or services your customers would like to see from you.
8) TRAIL AND ERROR
We’ve talked about this in so many podcasts. If any of these tips on how to attract customers doesn’t work, then try a different approach. Everything in business is about testing and tweaking.
