Restrained Daily & Excluded At Just 4 Years Old (Primary School Exclusion)
Isolated, Restrained, and Excluded – This was the daily battle that Natalie’s 4-year-old experienced every day at his primary school. He was also illegally excluded from school twice. Today we hear his primary school exclusion story.
Getting permanently excluded from school is traumatic for any child. There were more than 310,000 UK school exclusions in 2020 and today we hear just one of those fixed-term school exclusion stories of a primary school autistic child. Children excluded from school are vulnerable, many of them have EHCP’s or undiagnosed special educational needs. This immoral treatment of children needs to stop.
If your child is out of school or has experienced exclusions, I’ve put together a free resource of people to contact, helplines, and advice to change your child’s reality. Every young person deserves an education, including yours.
In this school exclusion story we talk about the following details of Natalie’s experience;
- Why her son was put in isolation everyday and made to have lunch alone
- How another parent verbally assaulted her and the school did not offer support to her or her child
- The details of the exclusion in her son’s primary school; 6 exclusions, 2 illegal exclusions (one of which was being excluded because the school didn’t want her son to go on a school trip)
- How it felt being the mum who was called in everyday to school and why she felt blamed and shamed.
I hope by hearing Natalie’s story, it helps you find strength if your primary-aged child has experienced school exclusion.
